Last week Gary Neville and his Overlap network launched 'The Overlap Daily' and it led me to sit back and wonder when did we go from football podcast famine to football podcast feast?!
I remember when all we had with regards podcasts about football was The Guardian's Football Weekly or slightly later The Times' The Game. Nowadays we are spoilt for choice, we could listen to a different podcast every day of the week if we wanted to. The cadence of podcasts has changed dramatically too, we've gone from one pod a week to some adding an 'extra' show to make it two a week, and now there are daily podcasts from some outlets. With a lot of midweek games there is so much football to cover and the number of podcasts and podcast episodes have changed to reflect the appetite from football fans.
I wanted to find out how we got here. Are these new football podcasts branching from the same tree or are we shooting up new trees altogether? Is it being driven by the same voices or are we seeing a proliferation of new football voices wanting to be heard?
Presenting The Football Podcasts

We try and answer some of these questions, whilst deep diving into some of the questions we have about the football podcast landscape. Are certain voices becoming more prominent? Have many people been on both The Football Weekly and The Totally Football Show since they forked?
It's an app that updates daily so it should keep track of the landscape over time and should any new podcasts come out we can add those too.
The football podcast landscape shows no sign of slowing down and we've put together the data to show you where the voices come from.
